You booked your boudoir session and now the countdown is ON. Cue the excitement… and maybe a little nervous energy, too. If you’re Googling “how to prepare for your boudoir photoshoot,” this guide’s for YOU.
This isn’t another boring checklist. These are the exact prep tips I give every single client at Moonlight and Lace Boudoir… including the little details no one talks about.
1. How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Photoshoot: Hydrate and Sleep Like You Deserve This
Drink water every day leading up to your session. Not because you need to shrink or detox… but because hydration helps your skin glow, reduces puffiness, and supports your body from the inside out.
Also, get a solid night’s rest. Sleep helps brighten your eyes, boost your mood, and enhance your confidence in ways caffeine never could.
2. Boudoir Prep Tip: Don’t Try Anything New Right Before
Avoid new skincare routines, crash diets, spray tans, or hair experiments the week of your shoot. These can backfire and cause stress or discomfort that you absolutely don’t need.
Instead, focus on what you already know works for your skin and body. Familiarity = comfort… and that’s everything.
3. Shave, Wax, or Do Nothing… It’s Your Call
Some clients love waxing. Others prefer shaving. Plenty do nothing at all. However, all of those are welcome.
What matters is how your skin feels to YOU. However, just avoid doing anything that might leave irritation or redness right before your shoot.
4. Boudoir Outfit Tips: Choose What Makes You Feel Powerful
You’re not limited to lingerie. In fact, Bodysuits, cozy knits, silky robes, corsets, or even a pair of sexy heels are all incredible options.
Still unsure? Our client closet has over 400+ pieces from Small to 5XL… and we’ll help you put together outfits that actually feel like you.
If you’re still wondering how to prepare for your boudoir photoshoot when it comes to outfits… you’re not alone. That’s why we walk you through it together.
5. Boudoir Photoshoot Beauty Prep: Hair and Makeup Tips
We’ve got you covered with professional hair and makeup from the talented Emily Houck. Her goal isn’t to change your face… it’s to enhance what’s already stunning.
In other words, please arrive with clean, dry hair and a fresh face… then sit back and let us pamper you while you sip, snack, and relax.
6. Confidence Over Posing Practice
You don’t need to rehearse. For example, you don’t need to know your angles. All you need to do is trust that I’ll pose you from head to toe.
I’ve got the lighting, angles, and instructions handled. However, your ONLY job is to show up and let yourself feel good.
7. How to Mentally Prepare for Your Boudoir Photoshoot
There’s no such thing as showing up “wrong.” You’re allowed to bring your quirks, your nerves, your stretch marks, your laughter… all of it.
You are the magic here. The best prep you can do is allow yourself to be seen and celebrated exactly as you are.
